My approach is mindfulness and compassion-based. Present-moment awareness of all dimensions of Self informs insight. The body speaks first, providing signals we experience as emotions. These are the footprints of all that has brought us to this point. It takes patience and practice to honor ourselves in this way. Talking and sharing our story is a part of it. Reaching deeper and speaking from our experience rather than our story is another matter entirely.
I incorporate creative expression, yogic postures, movement, and breathing techniques in my practice to facilitate a "bottom-up" awareness versus depending entirely on cognitive participation in the therapeutic process. Increasingly, Western medicine is recognizing the validity of leveraging Eastern modalities like mindfulness, yoga, and various breathing techniques in the treatment of a wide range of chronic healthcare issues.

CourageI believe in the potential for Change. I am inspired by the courage and resilience I have witnessed time and again in the clients I have come to know.

Kindness I've noticed that people seem to be particularly hard on themselves. A little kindness goes a long way. It's amazing how challenging it can be to give ourselves a little slack.

know - "Beginner's Mind" - is central to waking up and making more deliberate choices. |
