"No mud, no lotus" has long been one of my favorite quotes. Sometimes we have to get our hands dirty to get to the good stuff. Difficulties ask for attention and feelings need to be felt. I have supported clients with a wide variety of concerns including: relationship issues, early childhood trauma, eating disorders, chronic pain, grief, anxiety, and depression. The places that scare us, according to Pema Chodron, actually offer opportunities for liberation.
Transformation...of dark into light, shame into compassion, and isolation into a sense of shared experience are the fruits of this endeavor. I am grateful to my teachers and my family for supporting me and for giving me the opportunity to do this work.
I am a firm believer in the relevance of working with the body and the breath in order to make the kind of contact with Self that is needed for deep healing. I use evidence-based modalities and complementary somatic techniques and breath practices to help my clients listen to themselves in new ways. Listening is, of course, central to the therapeutic relationship. It seems to me that many people rarely feelheard – so knowing what it means to truly listen and be with another is no small thing.
"Being listened to is so close to being loved that we can hardly tell the difference." - Kenneth Robinson
